The Weekend Coffee Takes Over

Something happens when coffee people gather. There is a shared sense of intention you can feel immediately, in the way things are presented, in the way people dress, and in the quiet confidence of brands that know exactly what they are doing.

You start to notice the details. The packaging is considered, often stripped back, often black, but never boring. It feels deliberate. It feels sharp. It reflects a community that genuinely cares about taste, not just in coffee, but in everything around it.

This is the second edition of the Coffee Festival at The Campus, and it has grown to twice its size. It is led by Thomas from Ghostbird, a long-time partner and the mind behind Ghostbird Coffee Company, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most respected specialty coffee roasters, known for making great coffee accessible while staying deeply rooted in craft and community.

What makes this collaboration work is simple. It comes from the same place. Passion first, ego second. Everything built with care, and importantly, built in Malaysia.

For the first time, Nala steps into this world in a different way. We are going all in on black for the weekend, a shift that mirrors the mood and the aesthetic of the festival itself.

We are also opening up our space. Visitors can get their coffee, ideally from Ghostbird, and then come and sit at Nala. It becomes part of the experience. A place to pause, to reset, to enjoy the festival from a different angle.

We have created 50 exclusive T-shirts for the weekend. Once they are gone, they are gone. They will only be available at Kasturi.

There will also be small gestures throughout the festival. With every coffee purchase from Ghostbird, a limited edition sticker will be given, while stocks last.

The festival runs from Friday to Sunday. It is best to come early. Parking will be limited, so taking a Grab is recommended.

It is one of those weekends where everything aligns. People, product, and purpose, all in the same place.

This Sunday, we invite you to slow down, sit together, and create.

n all NALA stores across Malaysia, we are hosting a one-day Easter Egg Painting experience. Real eggs and paints will be provided. You can take your time to paint your egg and bring it home with you.

There is something special about sitting down and making something with your hands. It brings back memories of childhood, of time spent around a table, of simple moments shared with family and friends. It is also something I used to do with my mother, who loved painting eggs together.

We believe in creating beauty with our own hands. Just like these eggs, everything will be hand-drawn. We believe in taking a pause, and in moments like this. They are spontaneous, a little unexpected, and simply fun.

We call it the LS Do, and it is exactly what it sounds like. A fun, vibrant market happening every last Saturday of the month at Kasturi.

Doors open at 10am, and from the morning onwards the space fills with music, food, craft, and community. We are inviting buskers to come and play their songs and share their sound. They bring their own instruments, we provide the mic, and together we create the atmosphere. Throughout the day there will also be a live DJ, keeping the energy flowing.

Good food and beautiful craft are part of what makes this day special. We are welcoming one of the finest tofu makers in Malaysia, serving thoughtful Japanese dishes that are simple, refined, and deeply satisfying. At the same time, Gerai OA will be joining us with their extraordinary indigenous baskets, each one handwoven and rooted in heritage, carrying story and culture within every strand.

And here is the big surprise.

Everyone thought we were not doing Raya this year. But we are.

At this LS Do, we officially launch our Hari Raya collection at the market. The new balloon skirts will make their debut, playful yet elegant, sculptural yet easy to wear. They are designed to celebrate movement, celebration, and togetherness, and they deserve to be seen in person. If you have been waiting for Raya, this is it.

This season we are doing something I have never done before. The Vase skirts are part of our Firecracker Collection for Chinese New Year, but they sit just as beautifully within Christmas. They are timeless wrap skirts, graceful in movement and full of colour. And yes, for the first time ever, I put my paintings directly onto a skirt.

A vase with flowers is technically not a pattern, but to balance the composition there are several patterns flowing around it, giving the skirt the full Nala universe you know and love.

By 1 July, the team at HQ needs to be complete, structured and ready for the next chapter. We are growing, and growth only works when the right people are in the room.

Every role requires two to three years of retail experience. If you have never worked in retail before, this is not for you. Retail teaches urgency, customer sensitivity, responsibility and real world problem solving. We need people who understand that rhythm.

Here are the roles we are opening:

1. Graphic Designer

Salary range: RM3,000 to RM4,500

Salary range: RM3,500 to RM5,500

Salary range: RM3,000 to RM5,000

Sunday morning skirt launch at Tanglin Mall

This Sunday at 10 a.m. sharp, we’re releasing our new Balloon Skirt (formerly known as the Pelikat Skirt) in a very limited run of just 25 pieces, available exclusively at our Tanglin store.

The last time we launched the Pelikat Skirt, it sold out in under an hour, so if you’ve had your eye on this silhouette, it’s worth coming early.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

And while you’re on your way to the store, you might notice something else.

If you’re walking through Tanglin Mall over the next weeks and notice flowers slowly appearing across the floor, you’re not imagining things.

They’re from our Singapore Soul, Lan Hua collection, reimagined as a flower trail leading towards our store. Each shape is inspired by orchids, with different silhouettes and personalities, as a small nod to Singapore’s deep love for orchids and their role as a national symbol. We wanted to create something that gently draws you in, something that feels joyful and slightly unexpected, even before you step inside.

The flower stickers will be on the floor for the next six months, and we’ve also created a small visual display inside the store that will be up for about two weeks, so if you’re around, do come by and have a look before it changes.
