NALA'S THURSDAY SHOWS

What happens when Aloha meets the dance floor? A little swing, a lot of laughter, and two left feet trying their best! This episode, I join Lylia from KL Swings! to discover the joyful world of Lindy Hop, born in 1920s Harlem. From triple steps and rock steps to the art of leading and following, we learn that dancing is all about connection, rhythm, and letting go. And because Aloha is more than just a shirt, we also share a little love for Ho'oponopono, the Hawaiian philosophy of forgiveness, reconciliation, and making things right. Ready to swing? Join KL Swings! for their Friday lessons in TTDI. Find them at @klswings . 🌴✨
🌺 THURSDAY SHOW, ALOHA EDITION 🌺
What makes a great Hawaii shirt? The print, the fabric, the coconut shell buttons... and the patience it takes to make a pocket disappear into the pattern! 🏝️ From all-over prints to borders, horizontals and back panels, we dive into the beautiful madness of Aloha shirts. Plus, a few vintage treasures from my collection, including a patched-up favourite and a pure silk find from Kyoto. Because behind every great Hawaiian shirt, there’s a little art, a lot of detail, and probably way too much love for prints. 🌴✨
🌺 THURSDAY SHOW, ALOHA EDITION: EPISODE 3 🌺
Back to the beach, back to Port Dickson, and straight into our third Aloha drop. This one is a little wild, a little nostalgic, and very NALA. Black meets white in The Estate, a full print born from a logo designed in Penang, mixing ginger pots, Rose of Burma, satay fans and areca palms into one bold tropical universe. Then come orchids from Singapore’s Botanical Gardens, the playful Garland print, the mysterious Gray Sticks waterfall, and Lantana, our poisonous little weed turned beautiful. Muumuu, pleats, half-moons, reversible frills, full-circle skirts and retro silhouettes. Layer it, twist it, mix it, wear it your way. One beach. One collection. Too many ways to play. Welcome to Aloha Drop 03. Come enjoy the chaos. 🌴🖤🤍 https://naladesigns.com/ Shop at https://shop.naladesigns.com/
🌺 THURSDAY SHOW, ALOHA EDITION. EP. 02 🌺
We introduce the Aloha Series in Port Dickson. Our first drop of Hawaiian-inspired silhouettes, tropical botanicals and hand-painted waves. Discover wrap skirts with sculptural pleats, open-back Muumuu dresses, unisex orchid-print shirts and our reversible Frill dress. And there’s more to come. Drop 3 arrives next week, with dreamy aquarelle prints and a striking black-and-white story.
🌺 ALOHA, MY LOVE: The Prints
Dusk, rain-kissed flowers, curious turtles and the intoxicating scent of ylang-ylang. HortPark was feeling a little magical. Then came dinner, a Thai restaurant, and a sketchbook full of my favourite blooms. Somehow, the best ideas always seem to appear when you’re not looking for them. Episode 4 is a little love letter to Singapore, and to one unforgettable month of exploring, sketching and finding inspiration in the most unexpected places.
Finding Singapore, Episode 4
We arrived at Labrador Nature Reserve and Fort Canning Park determined to find flowers. Singapore had other plans. No obvious blooms. No perfect motifs. Just endless layers of tropical greenery, translucent leaves, and every shade of green imaginable. So we stopped searching for flowers and started paying attention to the landscape instead in Fort Canning Park. That small shift led to our first watercolor pencil sketch and what might become a brand new Nala pattern. A reminder that creativity often appears the moment you stop looking for exactly what you thought you needed.
Episode 3 of Finding Singapore.
This week, we’re exploring one of Singapore’s most iconic green spaces. From the impressive dam and its weathered stonework to intricate algae patterns, mangrove trees, and industrial steel valves, inspiration is everywhere. Every texture, shape, and color tells a story. The journey ends with a sketching session at Plain Vanilla, where these discoveries begin to take form on paper. Nature. Architecture. Design. They’re all connected. You just have to look a little closer. #TheThursdayShow #FindingSingapore #MacRitchieReservoir #DesignProcess #Sketchbook #NatureInspires #SingaporeParks
Finding Singapore – Episode 2: MacRitchie Reservoir 🌿
A new format for The Thursday Show. One month. One theme. Four episodes. So we can explore each topic in greater depth. This month, we’re Finding Singapore, discovering the city’s incredible parks and green spaces, one episode at a time. Episode 1: The Rail Corridor. From wild figs and ginger flowers to rambutan trees, we’re exploring the colors, textures, and patterns hidden in nature. Join me as I walk, observe, sketch in a café, and share how these moments shape my design process. Because every color already exists in nature. You just have to notice it. #TheThursdayShow #FindingSingapore #RailCorridor #SingaporeParks #DesignProcess #NatureInspires
FINDING SINGAPORE - The Rail Corridor
One year after sketching Aloha on Penang Hill, we’re finally shooting our very first tropical collection at the beautiful E&O Hotel. Canna lilies, palm prints, dreamy dresses, wrap skirts, and chic new solids in linen and cotton… this is our love letter to Penang’s natural beauty. The first stop of our Aloha journey starts right here.
